i’ll have nighttime beach adventures if i want to ( rachel | chloe )
[ Inviting Chloe on this family trip to the beach was probably the best decision she’s ever made, even if it did take some charming and convincing. It’s just a shame that it took them so long to get there.
It’s already dark by the time they settle into their bungalow near the water, and her parents were pretty clear about waiting until morning for any actual fun, but Rachel’s feeling contrary and she isn’t about to let that stop her.
In the middle of the night after making sure her parents are asleep, Rachel slips into her bikini and covers up with her favorite black-and-red plaid. She sneaks over to Chloe’s bed—easy, since they’re sharing a room—and starts to gently shake her. ]
Hey.
[ When Chloe opens her eyes, she’ll be greeted with a familiar, mischievous grin. ]
Wake up, loser, we’re going swimming.

Hey.

Wake up, loser, we’re going swimming.

The point being, she's entirely unprepared to be shaken from her slumber at whenever the fuck it is that Rachel deems fit for a wake up call. God, how long has she even been asleep? An hour? It feels like some unknowable being is trying to suck her brains out through a straw.
Of course, that's way more sophisticated a sentence than anything Chloe's capable of formulating right now. Instead, Rachel gets: ]
Mnnrgngh.
[ And one eye cracks slowly open, followed by the other. ]
Rrmph, Rachel. What the fuck?
no subject
Rachel is laughing at this and nudges her affectionately. ]
Don’t “mnngrgrh” me. Come on, the stars are out.
Don’t you wanna come see them with me?
no subject
As if she could not, when Rachel asks her like that. ]
Ugh... fuck, fine. Just let me find my clothes and shit. [ She's not going out there in her pajama shirt and boxers. Pushing herself up into a sitting position, Chloe clunkily pries the blanket off of her, and gropes around for her backpack in the dark. She knows she dropped it by her bed somewhere. Where's that stupid-- oh-- there we go.
Aaand Rachel's still hovering right over her with that expectant look on her face. ]
... Look away for a sec, will you?
no subject
At the request, Rachel gives the most overdramatic eyeroll in the history of overacting...but turns around as she does it, because she is nothing if not respectful.
She’s smiling, anyway. ]
Shy, much?
[ Just teasing. ]

[ She cobbles together an outfit from the crumpled mess inside her backpack, and gets as far as taking off her shirt before pausing. ] How serious were you about the swimming?
no subject
But since she assumes Chloe isn’t done changing, she basically does all that without turning around. She takes off the jacket and lets it drop to the floor, holding out her arms to either side like a model, to draw attention. ]
Dead serious. But I won’t make you if you don’t want to.
[ ......... ]
I definitely didn’t have any plans to splash ocean water all over you or anything.
[ hmmmmmmmmmm ]
no subject
[ Not like Rachel needed to draw attention, because Chloe was already staring. And her brain's bluescreening, just the way it did in the drama lab dressing room back when they just started hanging out, months back. Because Rachel is gorgeous, stupidly gorgeous, and stupidly impossible to look away from. Ugh.
It takes her a moment, but Chloe eventually remembers to pull her shirt all the way down her arms, and put together some manner of reply. ]
Right. Yeah, okay.
[ Smooth, Price.
She digs around her backpack for her swimsuit, then, and puts it on under her clothes, the way Rachel had. Then she zips her bag back closed, slinging it over one shoulder. ]
Alright, princess. Let's fucking embark on our midnight rendezvous.
no subject
Ah, well. All the funnier when she actually does it, she supposes. Until then......
Rachel grins, turning around immediately at the sound of the zipper on Chloe's backpack, since she assumes that means she's done. And she is!
So Rachel leads her merry way out of the room and the bungalow. She doesn't even bother to slip on her sandals. She just rolls barefoot. ]
The night is young, my prince, and so are we.
no subject
Biting on her lip through a dumb grin, she shuffles outside after Rachel. But not before putting some sandals on, thank you very much. It's dark, and she's stepped in way too much shit over the years -- figurative and otherwise -- to be taking that risk.
Her head's still a little hazed over and her body's heavy from sleep, but the outside air enlivens her; it's fresh and crisp without being too chilly, brushing her skin and filling her lungs. She finds herself feeling more and more alert as they head down to the shore, footsteps growing brisker, until she's no longer lagging after Rachel but walking side-on with her.
This means she can butt their shoulders with very little effort, which Chloe, of course, does. ]
You know what, it's nice out. I'm less pissed at you than I expected so far.
no subject
She's not shy about getting her feet wet in the water though, making sure to leave her footprints everywhere as she goes. ]
Told you so.
[ As if Chloe could stay mad at her anyway.
Even if she deserved it, sometimes. ]
You'd think my dad would be sick of the beach, but he still drags us out to this place every year.
It's surprisingly not awful.
[ Most years. ]
no subject
[ She kicks at the sand, focused on Rachel more than anything. Growing up in Arcadia meant she's spent far too much time on the beach to be particularly moved by the sight of it -- but being here now, just her and Rachel and the night sky above, still manages to feel... new. Exciting in its own right. ]
... You know, if we went for a swim right now, we'd freeze our tits off.
no subject
But Rachel smirks at the new mental image she's given. ]
Is that a warning, or a new kink you haven't told me about?
no subject
[ And she pulls off her shirt, to catch up to Rachel's state of undress. ]
no subject
Who was the bad influence on who, here? ]
Don't worry. I'm actually a pretty decent caretaker when I feel like it, you know.
[ Rachel grabs Chloe's hand and presses her lips against it, quietly admiring how bare her arms were now that she was without the shirt. ]
I'll kiss it all better.
no subject
... I'm holding you to that.
[ Angling her wrist just so, Chloe cups Rachel's cheek with her palm, softly brushing the pad of her thumb over full lower lip. ]
no subject
It probably feels warm. Rachel herself feels warm, all over. That shouldn't even be possible, but leave it to Chloe to kick "possible" in the face. ]
Funny. Suddenly you don't feel all that cold.
[ She closes her eyes, as if to check again. They are still full of mischief when she opens them again. ]
...But this princess will still perform her duties, should the need arise.
no subject
Check you out. A real servant of the people.
[ A moment's hesitation, and then Chloe decides to let herself indulge, leaning in to press a kiss to the edge of Rachel's mouth. Just a quick one, before pulling back.
She's very close to getting incredibly distracted, but she’s going to at least try and keep a lid on it, for now. Because Rachel says she wants to go swimming, and Rachel always gets what she wants. ]
no subject
It's not a stretch to say she's plenty distracted herself, but a combination of Chloe pulling back and the inviting ocean waves crashing behind her pulls Rachel back from her bliss. ]
Mmhmm.
[ She doesn't let Chloe pull back too far. She squeezes her hand as she nudges her head in the direction of the water. ]
So, are we gonna get wet or what?
sorry for my laaaate!! was out of the house for the past few days
[ Dumping her bag down on the sand, she shucks off her flip-flops and kicks down her jeans, bundling them into a half-assed ball to stuff into her bag. It's around that point, with her fingers hooked beneath the edge of her T-shirt, that it occurs to Chloe to be self-conscious again. ]
... You can go ahead.
NP!! i hope u had a good time ♥
BAM, it's like she hits a wall. A wall of Chloe Price.
Which she normally would not object to, but... ]
Oh, come on. How have you not embraced your own hotness by now?
[ Rachel doesn't even think. The way she closes the distance between them is casual, but also fast. Chloe is given no time to protest when Rachel tickles her slightly-exposed stomach, fingers brushing against hers along the way as she reaches beneath her shirt. ]
<3 yeah!!
She'd really like to say something snappy back, but it's the level of embarrassing you don't bounce back from that fast, so she settles for glaring at Rachel and grumbling: ]
I was getting it.
[ The shirt. Not the embracing her hotness thing.
... But she guesses she'll lift her arms up for Rachel, if she's already at it. Slowly, carefully, eyes narrowed. ]
No funny business, Amber.
no subject
When Chloe lifts up her arms though, Rachel takes the cue and lifts up the shirt, laughing at the sound Chloe had made as it clears her head. ]
No funny business.
[ She repeats the request, and quietly presses the shirt into Chloe's hands as she leans in to kiss her on the cheek. ]
Only fun.
