[ It isn’t as though Espella worries about being in the bakery by herself. It is her home, and with Aunt Patty’s warmth and love, she’s grown up to be quite comfortable here. Even when there isn’t anyone else, she still has her cat Eve, so really, she is always in good company.

The only thing that still leaves her fumbling is the customers. When she has support, it feels easy. Natural. But on her own, it’s suddenly very different, especially when they outnumber her.

Luckily, the bell this time yields only one person, stiffly walking through the door. A knight, by the looks of him.

Out of habit, she smiles, though it’s clear she’s a little nervous. ]

Oh! Welcome, sir. [ He’s a new one, isn’t he...? ] Are you taking a break?

[Eleven takes his time to take in his surroundings. He's passed this bakery several times on his patrol, but never actually been inside it. A few things led to another that he's visiting today, doing his own little investigation.

At the sound of Espella's voice, he glances over to her, quietly nodding. A mask hid half of his face, which is close enough to a knight's helmet. It keeps people from questioning his foreign appearance and wasting his time anyway.

So this was where the so-called "witch" resides. Seems like an innocent enough bakery.]

[ Espella smiles, quietly leading him to a seat. Perhaps it's easier this way, if he doesn't talk, though she does feel the pressure from it. The silence from his nonverbal response hangs thick in the air, but she simply takes a deep breath, trying to stay focused. ]

That's good. [ That he's taking care of himself... That he's... taking a break? Is that weird of her to say? Espella continues. ] I can get you a glass of water, for starters. Unless you'd prefer tea?

[chippedsoul]

Tea, please. [. . .she seems nervous.] Is it just you here today?

Yes. Just for now, while Aunt Patty goes to the market. [ Espella is already behind the counter, readying the hot water. She eases slightly at the small talk. ] Well, unless you count Eve...

[ A pause, before she clarifies. ]

My cat.

A cat...I see. [Why does the mention of a cat make him feel uneasy?] I see you've also managed to stay out of trouble so far. [It felt like she had been the center or connected to a lot of odd cases lately.]

[ There is a notable pause at his comment. Espella does admirably at appearing busy, prepping the sugar, other various condiments and accompanying snacks, but in the end, she comments anyway. ]

Trouble is the last thing I want. You must believe me.

[ Feeling sheepish, she adds: ]

Has... Has there been talk among the knights?

[chippedsoul]

[He makes a vague hand gesture at that.] There's always talk, but nothing ever comes of it when there's no evidence to back up their claims. [Not that he's siding with her, just that she's been proven innocent of all charges since he's been here. The rest is just hot air from those knights, as far as he's concern.]

If I'm to be honest, it all feels like someone has a personal vendetta against you.
