like tfln except not ( athena | apollo )
[It's not like Athena meant to break her phone. It just happened to fall out of her pocket one day on one of her jogs, slamming into the hard cement in a way that made even her cringe. She already has a new one, so it isn't even a big deal.
Sure, sure. She still has to let the Wrights know the new number, but hey, she can sweat the small stuff later. She's so much more of a "big picture" person.
Especially now.]
finally managed to get your client! meet us at th groovy grill @7. don't you dare be late
[It took forever to get that woman on the phone! Next time, Apollo is totally making his own stupid phone calls.]

( ref: meet me for a bite? )
1/give me a sec

that's strange. He blinks, but reads the text, and--
WHAT.]
no subject
he didn't realize this case was so high stakes... what did their client even do? No wait, Apollo, deep breaths, this is important, and their client had seemed nice enough...
But how can he go now, when the threat is so obvious?
But he can't leave their client alone either........and he can't be late.]
okay done
What if they've already gotten to Athena?
He hasn't heard from her yet, and he was supposed to have by now. Oh god oh god oh god, now the only path before him is clear--
So with shaking fingers, he types out his response.]
I'll be right there. Don't do anything crazy, please.
[And taking a deep breath, trying to ignore the fear in his gut, he rushes towards the restaurant.]
no subject
... Oh. It is pretty close to seven already, isn't it? Wow, she agreed without even really checking. She'd better hurry too, then, but she can't help but wonder just what he means by that.
She doesn't screw up that badly enough to warrant that sort of comment...]
like what? this party doesnt start w/o you
no subject
He's got so many terrible scenarios running through his head now...
But he can't stop now! He has to get there to save Athena (and their client)!!]
Why are you doing this? You don't have to do this! We can work it out!
no subject
...Does he want her help or not? Clearly she's missing something here.]
we will!
[She has to resist the urge to add JEEZ!! at the end of that. After some consideration, she decides to leave it as is, fearing that adding more ~big words~ would freak him out more. She'll just have to pester him in person to get him to spill on what his issue is.
It's way easier that way, anyway.]
no subject
He's gotta do this.
Come on, Apollo Justice, it'll be fine. Just--stay strong.
That's what he's repeating in his head as he rounds the corner at a run, heading for the restaurant.]
no subject
Well, that's less time for Athena to waste. So she breaks into a run, because that's just the kind of person she is. Being late would make them look bad, right?
...Then again, neither does bumping right into Apollo.
She nearly loses her balance--]
no subject
He staggers, barely retaining his balance--and then realizes it's Athena. And at first it's just relief, all-encompassing relief, and he reaches out to grab her shoulders, looking her over almost frantically.
No injuries, oh thank goodness--and then he just pulls her into a hug, taking a deep, shuddering breath.]
You're okay...
1/2
...
...Athena's eyes widen. She'd opened her mouth and had been ready to say something, but is silenced by the hug. She is... not used to this. Way to make things awkward...]
no subject
flustered?
Sure. Something like that.]
'Course I am! We're... We're gonna be late, silly.
[1/2]
And he pulls back and stares at her and--
. . . . . . . . . ]
H-huh? You mean you weren't--
[2/2]
[yeah okay now he's letting her go and
looking so shocked and confused
and embarrassed]no subject
She pulls back, and... Now she's just going to hit him.
Lightly.
Whack.]
H- Hey! We don't have time for your chords of steel training right now...!
no subject
Y-you mean you weren't kidnapped and being held as collateral with our client?
1/2
[What is she even supposed to say to that, something so out of left field? It actually makes her stop to consider, though.]
No?
[Uh --]
I don't think so.
[athena.]
no subject
okay, no.]
I mean, no way!
no subject
pauses
and then holds his head with his hands and--]
I can't believe-- Do you realize how threatening that text message sounded? Whose number is this, anyway?
[> present 'Cell Phone'
TAKE THAT.]
1/2
Okay, squinting at the screen now, and -- is he for serious? And what is he talking about, "threatening"?]
That was me! [She sounds so proud of herself.] Remember? I had to change my...
no subject
Not right away, mind you, but it's slowly starting to dawn her that maybe she hadn't quite gotten around to giving him this number. Her mouth hangs open mid-sentence -- and her expression remains somewhere between contemplative and shocked.
...She did tell him. She had to have.
Didn't she...?]
no subject
Deadpan--]
No. No I don't remember. I don't remember having this conversation at all.
1/2
......though it might've worked on Phoenix.]
A- Aha ha! I guess I forgot to tell you!
[...
oops.]
no subject
Sorry, Apollo.
[And then, to clarify:]
My old phone got totally busted... so this is the new one.
[Better late than never.]
no subject
And shakes his head.]
Honestly? I'm just glad you're alright. Just...try to remember to tell us that stuff, okay?
[Phew...he really is relieved she wasn't really kidnapped.]
no subject
(...Note to self: tell Truce and the boss FIRST THING tomorrow.)
...I'm pretty glad I'm alright, too.
no subject
So what's this about a client? Because I'm pretty sure that whatever it was you were saying, we're pretty late now.
[Still, he's too relieved about not being involved in a kidnapping to be too concerned about something like that.]
no subject
Oh, right! It was that woman you wanted me to call. We needed to discuss her case and you said you were having trouble getting ahold of her.
I finally got us an appointment at 7!
[Which is what she meant by her original text.
Hi, it's now 7:15.]
no subject
Sounds good to me. We'd better hurry up then, aha...ha...
[Still, he's still in a pretty good mood. HARD TO SHAKE OFF THAT EUPHORIA.]
no subject
(Hopefully.)
[She's only been with them for half a year, but she's getting used to it, too. This is pretty par for the course.
So --]
Bet I can beat you there!
no subject
well you know what. he opens his mouth as if to be a party pooper--
and then:]
You're on!
[And he'll take off.
well, this ended about as well as could be expected.]
no subject
She expected some resistance there; for a moment she's actually stunned. But when he takes off, she snaps out of it and runs after him, determined to get ahead.]
Hey! Cheater!
[She shouts playfully.
Probably best to enjoy the positive energy now -- because if their previous cases are any indication, they have a long few days ahead.]
